Supply Lists

Some classes also have a supply list of items that you need to bring to class. These supplies cover the basics AND specialty items required by the instructor to ensure you have the best possible experience in the class. Basics are things like scissors, paper and pencil for notes, an apron or appropriate garb for messy projects, and essential tools–like a working sewing machine for a sewing class!  Please download by clicking the link in the class description. The supply list will also be included in your confirmation email, sent by our staff about a week before the class convenes. You may also request that your supply list be sent via postal mail or email. Feel free to reach out to us if you have ANY questions about supplies!

Materials Fees

Many classes include a materials fee to cover supplies provided by the instructor. These materials fees are listed on course registration pages and are payable to the instructor at the first class meeting. To see what specific materials are included in this fee, please click on the supply list for the class. Materials fees are not included in your class registration.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Our current withdrawal and cancellation policies are in effect. However, if the refund deadline has passed and you are sick or do not want to attend class because you are concerned about health risk due to COVID-19, we would be happy to allow you to transfer your tuition to another currently listed class (aka classes within the current term or classes listed on our website at the time of the cancellation).  You may also convert your tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. Please communicate any health concerns or tuition transfer requests to Cristin McKnight Sethi, cmcknightsethi@textilecentermn.org, before the start of class. We are unable to honor any tuition transfer requests made after the start of class.

Adult Class Withdrawals & Tuition Transfers:

(Different from Guest Teaching Artist Workshop Withdrawal Policy. See “Guest Teaching Artist Workshops Withdrawal Policy.”)

In-person adult classes:

If you need to withdraw from class and you send a withdrawal request at least 5 business days before the start of your workshop, you may receive a refund (minus a $25 processing fee). Alternatively, you may transfer your full tuition to another currently listed class or convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center.

We are unable to provide a refund or make a tuition transfer if your notice of withdrawal is received less than 5 business days before the start of your workshop, except in the case of illness or health risk (please see COVID-19 tuition transfer policy above). In this case, your tuition can be converted to a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.

Please note: Guest Teaching Artist Workshops have a different withdrawal policy. Please see the Guest Teaching Artist Workshop section.

Digital adult classes:

Due to the nature of digital access to the classes and distribution of supplies, refunds will not be processed if you cancel your registration less than 10 business days before the start of class.

If your notice of withdrawal or tuition transfer is received at least 10 business days before the start of your workshop, you will receive a refund of your workshop payment, minus a $25 non-refundable processing fee.

Cancellations

If minimum enrollment is not met by the registration deadline, we reserve the right to cancel any workshop. If we cancel for any reason, you will receive a full refund. Registration deadline will vary, but is generally one week before the start of the class.

Guest Teaching Artist Workshop Withdrawal Policy

See individual workshop information for any additional special cancellation policies. Generally, 50% refund available if withdrawn by the Earlybird deadline. Due to the scheduling nature of these classes and arrangements for instructors, no refunds are available after that.

Events and Trainings

Admission to special events, lectures, demos, and trainings is nonrefundable. This includes programing priced lower than the $25 processing fee such as Craft Night and Crafternoons.

Register Early!

All classes have limited space available (8-12 students) and fill quickly. Please feel free to call and check on class availability before you send in your registration. We are not able to hold spaces without payment.

If the class you are interested in is full, we are generally able to take a waiting list for a class and will call you if a space opens up.

Inclement Weather

Please contact Textile Center at 612-436-0464 if you have concerns about inclement weather during the time of your class. If the class runs as scheduled and you do not attend, there will be no refund of any registration fees. If Textile Center cancels the class, we will contact each student as soon as a decision is made–at either the email or phone number on the registration–and do our best to reschedule the class for a different date. If you are unable to attend the new date, a full refund will be processed.

Scholarships

Textile Center is committed to eliminating barriers that prevent anyone from appreciating and contributing to fiber arts in their own unique and valuable ways. One way we can build and support a diverse and inclusive arts community that fosters a sense of belonging for all individuals is to ensure access to our classes by removing financial barriers.

Anyone with financial need is eligible to apply. Textile Center does not require scholarship applicants to provide evidence of financial need, but instead asks all who apply to determine their own individual level of need.

Textile Center prioritizes giving scholarships to individuals who identify as indigenous, persons of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and/or members of other historically or systemically marginalized groups.

Students may complete and submit a scholarship application any time prior to the start of a class. We cannot guarantee scholarship placement for all applicants and will only notify selected applicants. Scholarship recipients may be notified as late as 1 week before the start of a class.

STEP ONE: Complete the scholarship application form.

STEP TWO: Email Cristin McKnight Sethi, Director of Education, at cmcknightsethi@textilecentermn.org to follow up on the status of your application if you have not heard back from someone from the Education team at Textile Center before the start of the class you would like to take. For any additional questions regarding scholarship, please reach out to Cristin.

We look forward to having you in class!
