Join The Tuft Club! Learn the basics of rug tufting in this introductory workshop. Gain familiarity with the tools and techniques of machine tufting including how to design a tufted rug, select materials, frame, and apply fiber using a tufting machine. Experiment by creating a small 2×2 ft sample rug of your own design. Leave with the foundational skills needed to explore rug tufting further and eventually develop an at-home tufting practice.

Materials fee of $50 (optional), payable to the instructor at the start of class, for any student who would like ot use one of the instructor’s tufting machines during the class. Alternatively, students may wish to purchase their own tufting machine. The instructor recommends The Duo – Cut & Loop Pile Tufting Machine “Medium Pile . Please read the Supply List carefully and reach out to Cristin if you have any questions. Textile Center will provide tufting frames for you to use during class. Should you wish to purchase your own tufting frame, we recommend this frame style.
Instructor Bio:
Ruled by fire and fueled by passion & action, Neeka Jackson (she/her) is always the first to question how and why. When she first learned about Tufting, she had many questions. At the end of said questioning, she devoted herself to the art of rug-making. Neeka is a passionate Tufting artist, is in charge of her own rug brand, works at a library, and loves all things techie. She has a background in fashion, dance, and music (she has been DJ-ing for over a decade), all of which merge together in her creative practice. Neeka is a patient teacher and is eager to share her love of Tufting with others! @localruggdealer

Withdrawal Policy
If you need to withdraw from class and you send a withdrawal request at least 5 business days before the start of your workshop, you may receive a refund (minus a $25 processing fee). Alternatively, you may transfer your full tuition to another currently listed class or convert your full tuition into a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center.
We are unable to provide a refund or make a tuition transfer if your notice of withdrawal is received less than 5 business days before the start of your workshop, except in the case of illness or health risk (please see COVID-19 tuition transfer policy here). In this case, your tuition can be converted to a tax-deductible donation to Textile Center. We will be happy to provide you with a receipt for your donation if you request one.
